Our goals

Sonification in Mathematics

Develop a scientific methodology to validate sonification techniques for conceptualizing function graphs, focusing on accessibility for visually impaired students.

App Testing & Refinement

Test and refine the Audiofunctions app with diverse higher education students, considering cultural and cognitive factors for improved accessibility.

Widespread Access

Ensure European accessibility of the enhanced Audiofunctions app with an online platform, multilingual support, and ongoing user feedback for continuous improvement.

Cultural Integration

Evaluate the impact of cultural and cognitive factors on sonification tools, integrating feedback to optimize learning experiences for diverse student groups.

Main expected results

Literature review and analysis of existing tools

The project will produce and publish a report containing a literature review on the use of sonification for accessibility in mathematics and the analysis of existing tools using this technology.

A tested and open-source Audiofunctions app

An improved version of the application Audiofunctions will be developed and tested according to a methodological protocol developed by the partnership to offer an inclusive and multi-modal instrument to access function graphs for both visually impaired and sighted students.

A set of guides for students and teachers

To support the use of Audiofunctions in teaching and learning mathematics, the project will prepare and publish a series of multi-lingual guides on how to use the application for the representation of function graphs for both visually impaired and sighted students.

A final international conference in Turin

The finalized version of the Audiofunctions app, together with the other results of the SONAIRGRAPH project, will be presented at academic conferences, and a final international conference will be organized within the project in Torino in 2027.
